Call for Volunteers
New Notions is a pop up documentary cinema, created by me, Aaron Guthrie (ok but who the hell is that?). It’s a monthly event that strives to tell sincere, honest, narrative-driven stories about our world. Read more on why we exist here.
We look at global subjects through human stories.
New Notions is an independent project, which means we’re scrappy, and startup-y. We’re looking for people who are ambitious, curious, enthusiastic about documentary film, current affairs and sharing human-centred stories, but not necessarily in that order.
We're all young volunteers—aka it would be us together in a co-working space or working remotely—so high enthusiasm, and new fresh ideas go a long way. You'll be an integral part of the team. We're open to international volunteers who can work remotely on our digital stuff (online/magazine/social). Our screening events take place in Belfast.
Are you someone who's not afraid to get into the weeds of creating film events and willing to create the rules as we go?
This is a two way street. In return for the time you give, you will receive hands-on experience and learn what it's like to run a pop-up community cinema. Throughout the year there are may be funded opportunities for professional development. For example, Film Programmer training on how to reach new audiences, or provide disability friendly screenings. These are dependent on available partner funding.
Any questions at all? Need to clarify something or want to give feedback? Please do get in touch. I'm really looking forward to hearing from you.
